In athletes, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury poses challenges to ensure a safe return to play (RTP). The lack of guidelines for rehabilitation and functional readaptation underscore the importance of comparing functional variables between athletes with and without a history of ACL injury. The objective of this study is to compare the functional variables of strength-power and flexibility of the lower limbs, speed and agility between soccer, basketball and rugby athletes, with and without a history of previous ACL reconstruction. METHODOLOGY: Cross-sectional study, 124 soccer, basketball and rugby athletes with (n= 83) and without (n= 41) history of ACL reconstruction participated. Sociodemographic, anthropometric and sports data were collected. Flexibility was assessed using the Back Saver Sit and Reach test, power with the Drop Jump, speed and agility with the V Cut and Illinois, respectively. RESULTS: Statistically significant differences (p<0.05) were found between athletes with and without a history of ACL injury in the variables associated with lower limb power, such as muscle stiffness and Reactive Strength Index (RSI). In addition, the results indicated that athletes with a history of injury presented lower performance in relation to flexibility, speed and agility. CONCLUSIONS: Lower limb power, flexibility, speed and agility could be affected in athletes with a history of knee injury, even after the rehabilitation phase and RTP, assuming this as a risk factor for injury relapse.eng
