Objective: To correlate shoulder muscle strength levels using isokinetic dynamometry and the ASH test in cadets from the “Gral. José María Córdova” Military Cadet School. Method: Observational correlational study with a sample of military cadets (n = 57). Muscle strength in internal and external rotation was measured using isokinetic dynamometry at 180°/s and 300°/s, and the ASH test was performed in the I, Y, and T positions. Statistical analysis was conducted using Python programming, including descriptive statistics and visualization of correlation coefficients through heatmap correlation matrices. Results: Moderate and positive correlations were found between the ASH test and isokinetic dynamometry. The highest peak force and rate of force development (RFD) were observed in the I position, while isokinetic testing showed a consistent predominance of internal rotators (IR) at both 180°/s and 300°/s. Asymmetries greater than 10% were identified, potentially reflecting functional adaptations related to dominance and training. A notable association was observed between the Y position and IR strength, particularly in peak vertical force and RFD at 200 ms. Conclusions: The findings support the complementary use of the ASH test, highlighting its value as an accessible and valid method for assessing shoulder strength. The association between the Y position and IR suggests possible involvement of the subscapularis, offering a basis for future research on glenohumeral joint function.eng
