| dc.description.abstract | The thesis “Design of a Digital Educational Tool for Delivering Food and Nutrition Education Across Different Sports Stages to Competitive Track and Field Athletes in Bogotá” aimed to design and evaluate the digital application AthlEat as a resource for food and nutrition education (FNE) among university athletes in Bogotá. A Design-Based Research (DBR) approach was adopted, integrating phases of technological development, instrument validation, and pilot testing. The knowledge questionnaire developed reached adequate indices of content validity (S-CVI/Ave = 0.92) and reliability (KR-20 = 0.81; α = 0.84), ensuring measurement robustness. The pilot test included six athletes who completed a pretest and posttest following the intervention with AthlEat. Results showed a mean increase of 3.3 points in knowledge scores (from 4.7 to 8.0 out of 10), a statistically significant difference in both Student’s paired t test (t(5) = 15.81; p < 0.001). The effect size (Cohen’s d = 6.45) confirmed a very large impact of the intervention, supporting the application’s effectiveness as an educational strategy. Correlation analysis revealed that lower baseline scores for the initial knowledge test, listed in the first session, were associated with greater posttest gains, while interest and active participation were positively correlated with improvement. These findings suggest that motivational and contextual factors influence the effectiveness of digital interventions in sports nutrition. In summary, AthlEat is established as a valid, reliable, and effective tool, with potential for scaling up in university and sports contexts. Its implementation provides a complementary strategy to professional guidance, fostering athlete autonomy, enhancing adherence to nutritional guidelines, and contributing both to the development of healthy eating habits and the optimization of sports performance. | eng |

| spa |
