Es have, among other responsibilities, the task of creating favorable conditions for a sustainable environment. In this context, companies in the bioeconomy sector contribute to this goal by developing and strengthening technological innovation through the production and utilization of biological resources to provide sustainable products and services to present and future generations. Hoydraever, strengthening their capacity for technological innovation faces limitations due to a lack of financial resources. Therefore, it became necessary to study the relationship between financing and technological innovation capacity in bioeconomy SMEs as an exploratory research project, in accordance with the 2022-2026 National Development Plan led by the Colombian National Government, which proposes to integrate the pillars of Social Justice, Environmental Justice, and Economic Justice. To this end, a theoretical model was developed relating financing and technological innovation capacity in bioeconomy SMEs, which was empirically validated with a sample of 102 managers of Colombian SMEs. The model also evaluated the mediating effect of innovation facilitators between financing and technological innovation capacity. These procedures were carried out using structural equation modeling and the partial least squares method (PLS-SEM). The findings showed that only financing with own resources is related to the generation of technological innovation capacity, and this relationship is indirect. Similarly, the mediating effect of innovation facilitators on the generation of technological innovation capacity is highlighted. The research contributes to various theories related to the areas of financing, innovation, and bioeconomy. Therefore, it is advisable to continue developing research based on the application of the proposed and evaluated model, using other funding sources in different economic sectors. Likewise, it is important to replicate this model in other Latin American countries in order to compare the progress of technological innovation in bioeconomy companies with the contribution of different funding sources.eng
