dc.description.abstract | During the construction of bridges by successive overhangs the main beams of the bridge are subjected to shear loads, as a result a buckling failure can occur. Occasionally the girders must be perforated to allow the passage of pipes or reduce the weight, however, their ultimate strength is reduced. An option to prevent buckling failure is the use of stiffeners welded to the girder web. Therefore, this research studies the influence of circular, longitudinal and inclined stiffeners on the ultimate strength of perforated beams subject to shear loads by using validated nonlinear numerical models based on experimental results available in the literature. A parametric analysis is performed to determine the effect of different geometric parameters of stiffeners and openings diameters. Finally, the results obtained shows that the stiffeners provide an increase on the ultimate strength of the perforated girders for all the diameters considered in the analysis, in addition it is concluded which stiffener is the optimum depending on the height of the girder and the diameter of the opening, some design recommendations are presented based on the results obtained. | spa |
dc.description.abstract | Durante la construcción de puentes por voladizos sucesivos las vigas principales del puente se ven sometidas a cargas cortantes, como consecuencia se puede producir una falla por pandeo. En algunas ocasiones las vigas deben ser perforadas con el fin de permitir el paso de tuberías o disminuir el peso, sin embargo, su resistencia última se ve reducida. Una opción para contrarrestar la falla por pandeo es el uso de rigidizadores soldados al alma de la viga. Por lo tanto, esta investigación estudia la influencia de rigidizadores circulares, longitudinales e inclinados sobre la resistencia última de vigas perforadas sujetas a cargas cortantes mediante el uso de modelos numéricos no lineales validados a partir de resultados experimentales disponibles en la literatura. Se realiza un análisis paramétrico para determinar el efecto de diferentes parámetros geométricos de los rigidizadores y diámetros de perforación. Finalmente, los resultados obtenidos demuestran que los rigidizadores aportan un aumento en la resistencia última de las vigas esbeltas perforadas para todos los diámetros considerados en el análisis, además se concluye cuál rigidizador es el óptimo dependiendo de la altura de la viga y el diámetro de la perforación, por último, se presentan unas recomendaciones de diseño con base en los resultados obtenidos. | spa |
