That event is related to the construction and evolution of a long-life continental arc that currently is object of many controversies around the time and type of processes related to their origin and evolution. In a general sense, consensus has been reached around the idea that the starting of this long-life continental arc was a consequence of a rollback type subduction in an extensional tectonic scenario during the upper Triassic to lower Jurassic. The most widely accepted hypothesis on that sense proposes that this subduction and tectonic style remained constant from upper Triassic to Lower Cretaceous, however a second hypothesis suggests that the rollback was active only until the middle Jurassic, where the tectonic regime became transpressive in a normal type subduction happening at the same time of translation, collision and accretion of continental blocks to the margin, a third hypothesis suggests that this magmatism was the product of a intracontinental rift from Upper Triassic to lower Cretaceous, however it has make no sense due to the growth of analytical databases that support the continental arc premise. The existence of a middle Jurassic metamorphic belt associated to the Cajamarca Complex has been recently discovered close to Ibagué City, that belt is related whit a supra – cortical event at P/T conditions of 8 Kbar and around 550 °C and their origin has been attributed to a collisional event in a transpressive tectonic regime. Even though the arc history and this metamorphic event was coetaneous, a direct relationship between both processes is uncertain. IV Whit the goal to provide some ideas around the relationship between changes in subduction dynamics and arc magmatism in the construction and evolution of magmatic arcs and formation and growth of continental crust and supported on new structural geology data, field cartography, petrography, thermobarometric calculations, geochemistry of major oxides and trace elements (of protoliths) and U-PB detrital geochronology (LA-ICP-MS), this work looks for stablish the north extension of the Cajamarca Complex related Jurassic metamorphic belt and stablish their role on the evolution of the northwestern margin of Gondwana at this time. The results obtained prove that the previously recorded metamorphic belt extends northward near the towns of Mariquita, Falan, Fresno and Manzanares, with a metamorphic age constrained between 167 Ma (maximum depositional age) and 143.3 Ma (oldest age of the Mariquita Stock), the volcanic protoliths in this unit indicate a mixed MORB – Arc signature or supra - subduction signal and the P/T conditions ranging between 4 Kbar and 5 Kbar in pressure and between 350 ° C and 400 ° C on temperature , occurred at depths between 12 Km and 15 km in a thermal gradient of between 26 ° C / km and 29 ° C / km, conditions typically accepted as Burrovian type . These approximations suggest that the Jurassic metamorphic event took place inside the arc as a response of intra or back-arc related basins to their possible restructuration. This hypothesis is compatible in time and tectonic dynamism with the transition from a extensional to Transpressive tectonic regime as a some authors propose for the middle Jurassic.to Transpressive tectonic regime as a some authors propose for the middle Jurassic.
