Objective: To analyze the influence of perceptions of precarious employment and work-life articulation on the perception of burnout in university professors in Bogota. Methodology: a set of four related chapters was elaborated, including literature reviews on burnout, burnout in university professors, the relationship between work-life articulation and burnout, and finally between precarious employment and burnout; the empirical chapters include descriptive analyses, mean differences, structural equation models, multigroup and parallel mediation, all under the Conservation of Resources theory. Results: Of the four chapters, the first is an exploratory systematic review to identify what has been studied regarding work-life and mental health of workers in different professions. The second contains a literature review of burnout, including measurement instruments; there, the process of translation into Spanish and cultural adaptation of the alternative burnout instrument OLBI is developed. The third synthesizes the review of the work-life articulation and its theoretical and empirical relationship with burnout; sociodemographic and working conditions control variables were included. The fourth summarizes the findings on burnout in university professors and synthesizes the review of reviews on precarious employment and its dimensions. A descriptive analysis of the sample and the findings regarding the self-report of the three constructs is carried out. The relationship between work-life articulation and the burnout dimensions of the previous chapter is corroborated and the role of precarious employment in this relationship is identified. Conclusions: A knowledge gap was identified regarding the relationship between burnout and work-life articulation and job insecurity; most studies focus on the work-life conflict perspective. The Spanish version of the OLBI had good measures of fit, with an α greater than 0.8 and internal consistency after eliminating items 5 and 13. The relationship between work-life articulation and burnout is related theoretically and empirically, and the role of the perception of precarious employment as a mediator in the same relationship is determined. Empirically, a significant positive relationship was identified between work-life conflict, precarious employment, and the perception of financial needs with burnout dimensions and a significant negative relationship between balance, enrichment, contractual volition, compensation, and benefits and working hours per week with burnout dimensions. Having a partner, type of contract and having one or more jobs were identified as variables that make the relationship between work-life balance and burnout significant. precarious employment partially mediates the relationship between enrichment and conflict only with the disengagement dimension; contractual willingness, compensation and benefits and perceived financial needs partially mediate the relationships between balance and enrichment with the two dimensions of burnout; and finally, work hours per week partially mediates the relationships of work-life articulation only with disengagement.eng
