Abstract
This document shows the experimental developed research, to a pilot scale thermal plant, located at Ecci University, Bogotá, Colombia. The investigation has as precedents the studies carried out by the author and Silva, in 2016, showing imbalances in the operation and operation of the plant, which gave rise to the approach of a design that allowed to correct these problems, based on a complete diagnosis of the initial setup. Subsequently, improvements to the con guration were raised, based on the results obtained to the energy and exergetic analysis, which allowed to decipher the equipment involved in the inefficiency of the plant,
mainly the steam capacitor. Thanks to the resources provided by the ECCI University, some of the proposed improvements were implemented, showing satisfactory results in the stationary operation of the plant, and increase in the thermal efficiencies of the cycle, total and exergetics, since associated energy losses were reduced to the processes. In conclusion, the proposed improvements have positive impacts on the efficiency of the plant, and on the steam rate (Steam Rate) and heat rate (Heat Rate), leaving as a recommendation the design and implementation of the steam and economizer overheat of boiler, so that the irreversibilities associated with combustion decrease considerably and the plant is even more efficient
