Toma de conciencia y socialización del duelo, el dolor y la muerte en la novela Colombiana contemporánea. Lectura de dos casos: los ejércitos y rencor

Abstract

Esta investigación se centra en dos novelas colombianas recientes, publicadas en el 2006 y el 2007 respectivamente: Rencor de Óscar Collazos y Los ejércitos de Evelio Rosero. Así, se analiza la manera como estos dos novelistas le atribuyen a la novela ciertas funciones sociales, entre las cuales resulta pertinente observar las siguientes: primero, la novela como instrumento de socialización de dolores sociales provocados por la experiencia colectiva de la muerte, especialmente de aquella que resulta del conflicto armado colombiano; segundo, como mecanismo social y artístico contra el olvido y la tendencia a fingir o creer que las heridas sociales ya se han curado. De esta manera, en esta investigación se plantea que algunas novelas contemporáneas, en el contexto colombiano, resultan adecuadas para cumplir funciones sociales, tanatológicas en particular. La hipótesis central de esta tesis es que estas novelas proponen a sus lectores realizar una especie de duelo colectivo. En este orden de ideas, el estudio propone que estas novelas pueden ser leídas como vehículos para tomar conciencia de la guerra y la muerte, para que los colombianos vivan mejor en una sociedad más justa y menos rota. / Abstract. This investigation is centred in two recent Colombian novels, published in 2006 and 2007 respectively: Rencor (Rancour) by Óscar Collazos and Los ejércitos (The Armies) by Evelio Rosero. Through them, the thesis analyzes the way these two novelists attribute to the novel certain social functions, within which it is important to observe the following: Firstly, the novel as an instrument of sharing, processing and digesting as a society the societal pain caused by the collective experience of death, especially that which results from the Colombian armed conflict. Secondly, as a social and artistic mechanism against forgetting and the tendency to pretend or believe that society’s wounds have already healed. In this way, the investigation proposes that a certain type of contemporary novel in the Colombian context is equipped to fulfill social, particularly thanatological, functions. The main thanatological process these novels propose is that their readers, on confronting these texts, enter into a kind of collective grief and mourning. Accordingly, this study proposes that these novels may be read as vehicles for taking a position of awareness of war and death, in order to contribute to the Colombian people becoming able to live better in a more just, less broken society
