Abstract. There has been demonstrated that the hydrodynamic modeling and of water quality it is a very useful tool to observe the behavior of different bodies of water under internal and external acting conditions. The main objective of this research was to model the hydrodynamics and water quality behavior at the Muña reservoir. The computer programs used were COHERENS, MOHID and LAKE2K. These models were implemented in the reservoir under different scenarios for a simulation period of 30 days (720 hours) allowing to represent the main transport and biochemical transfer phenomena of sewage from the city of Bogotá. The analysis of the results for the first two models shows clearly the influence of wind in the general hydrodynamics of the reservoir. Moreover it is found that the Muña is able to absorb a high fraction of pollutant load. This regardless of the scenario selected as a treatment for wastewater from the Bogotá city. Finally, modeling with L2K showed oxygen consumption due to sediments present and stratification that occurs in the Muña reservoir.
