Resumen
Para comienzos de 1960, en el sur del departamento del Atlántico se presentaron agudos conflictos agrarios. Disputas por la tierra llevaron a enfrentamientos teniendo como protagonistas a un sector del campesinado atlanticense organizados en sindicato y terratenientes locales. La intención con este trabajo es comprender y explicar estos conflictos agrarios en el contexto internacional, nacional y local. Los focos de convulsión social se presentaron en 3 municipios específicamente: Campo de la Cruz, Candelaria y Manatí, siendo este último municipio el de mayor tensión social. El afán de modernización agraria, los conflictos agrarios y las políticas de reforma agraria se convierten en un entramado complejo que arroja como resultado un fracaso productivo y un devastado presente para el sector rural en el departamento del Atlántico.
Abstract: In early 1960, in the southern part of the Atlantic department were presented acute agrarian conflicts. Land disputes led to clashes taking as protagonists in a sector of the peasantry organized in union and local landowners. The intention with this work is to understand and explain these agrarian conflicts in the international context, national and local. The hotbeds of social upheaval is presented in 3 municipalities specifically: Campo de la Cruz, Candelaria and Manatí, the latter being the municipality of greater social tension. The eagerness of agrarian modernization, the agrarian conflicts and agrarian reform policies are converted in a complex network resulting in a failure and a devastated productive present in the rural sector in the department of the Atlantic.
