Resumen
Esta investigación presenta los resultados experimentales que buscan entender las características suspensionantes y plastificantes de una materia prima arcillosa tipo Ball Clay, usada en la formulación de engobes cerámicos, mediante la caracterización física, química y mineralógica y posterior definición del proceso de beneficio de la materia prima que permita concentrar fracciones de interés que favorezcan las propiedades de desempeño en el producto final. El estudio se realizó bajo la aplicación de conceptos de la estabilidad reológica, energía libre superficial y procesos de beneficio de minerales arcillosos.
Abstract: This investigation present the results that search to understand the suspending and plasticizing characteristics of Clay mineral, which is used in ceramic formulation. Is very important understand it through of characterization the properties physical, chemical and mineralogical and finally to define processing the raw material for increase the performance. The study was carried out under the application of concepts of rheological stability, free surface energy and processes of benefit of clay minerals.
