Abstract: This thesis analyzes the stator current signal of induction motor fed by a speed drive to identify bearing separator and short circuit inter turns in the stator winding faults. Addi- tionally the operating point is identified of an induction motor fed with a speed drive whose torque on the shaft is defined by the load exerted by a centrifugal pump. A conceptual analy- sis of the techniques available in the literature is presented and The selected techniques are tested using signals acquired in the laboratory for different cases that occur in the industry: speed variation, torque variation, voltage unbalance and torque swing. Finally, the Wavelet discrete transform and the short-time Fourier transform are presented as effective diagnostic techniques in certain operating ranges; and as an efficiency analysis to identify the optimum operating point of the centrifugal pump -speed drive - electric motor system.
