Resumen
Objetivo: Determinar los motivos que tienen las personas para hacer uso de los servicios de urgencias. Metodología: Artículo de revisión de literatura adelantado mediante la organización y análisis de artículos sobre el tema, así como resultados de estudios de investigación localizados en las principales bases de datos, centros de evidencia científica y revistas indexadas. Resultados: se clasificaron los motivos de uso de los servicios de urgencias en cinco grupos: factores demográficos y epidemiológicos, socioeconómicos, aspectos inherentes al modelo de atención, factores culturales e infraestructura. Conclusiones: los motivos de uso de los servicios de urgencias por parte de las personas, en un gran número, pudieron ser resueltos en otros niveles de atención de salud. Factores derivados de la cultura, del contexto social y del modelo de atención generan el uso inadecuado de las infraestructuras destinadas a la atención principal de pacientes que se encuentran en riesgo vital.

Methods: Review of literature, advanced by means of the organization and analysis of articles about the topic, as well as results of studies of investigation, located in the principal databases, centers of scientific evidence and indexed magazines. Results: There qualified the motives of use of the emergencies services in five groups: demographic and epidemiological, socioeconomic factors, aspects inherent in the model of attention, cultural factors and infrastructure. Conclusions: The motives of use of the emergencies services on the part of the persons who attend them, in a great number could be solved in other levels of attention of health. Factors derived from the culture, the social context, of the model of attention, generate the inadequate use of the infrastructures destined for the attention, principally, of patients who are in vital risk.
