Abstract. This research addresses the historical period between 1945 and 1965 and wonders about the speech delivered collectively and individually by the Colombian ecclesiastic hierarchy, ie, the bishops and archbishops of the Catholic Church, in front to the phenomenon known as La Violencia. The research makes emphasis on the pastorals and statements issued by the episcopal conference and pastorals and statements issued by individually bishops against communism, liberalism, peace and violence. Against this explores the differences between the bishops and if they followed or not, the guidelines established by the episcopal conference.
