Abstract
T, Tn and sTn antigens are molecules that are associated with alterations in the proteins found on the cell surface, these changes are associated with modifications during the biosynthesis process of the glycoconjugates and are generally associated with the development of a wide variety of types of cancer. In recent years, the possibility of using these antigens as potential biomarkers for the development of new methods of early diagnosis and cancer treatments has been studied. In this context, several researchers have reported the affinity that lectins have for glycopeptides that carry these antigens with the purpose of developing methodologies for the diagnosis of the disease, in some cases it is possible to distinguish between types of cancer. In this project, peptide sequences derived from plant lectins that recognize the T, Tn and sTn antigens will be designed and synthesized, as well as the in vitro activity of the obtained peptide sequences will be evaluated and the results will be compared with those of the precursor lectins. the peptide sequences. It is expected that the results of this project contribute significantly to identify peptide sequences responsible for the recognition of T, Tn and sTn antigens that allow the development of new methods of early diagnosis of cancer.
