Abstract. The concept of energy is very important to explain all natural processes; this means that this concept has to be introduced in the natural sciences curriculum using an unified approach. However, in secondary school it is teaching in a way that is fragmented and disjointed with geological, biological and chemical processes, being relegated to a mere formality in which the student does not make sense. This teaching sequence based on teaching by inquiry aims to address the concept of potential energy from the study of five natural phenomena in order to foster meaningful learning and transdisciplinarily.
