Se concluye que la adaptación de un test requiere un enfoque iterativo y sensible al entorno educativo y cultural de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, considerando tanto aspectos técnicos como humanos, incluso llegando a la eliminación o reemplazo de ítems problemáticos. dc.description.abstractThis study presents the first stage of the cultural and linguistic adaptation process of a concept inventory in the area of resistive electric circuits, called the Determining and Interpreting Resistive Electric Circuit Concepts Test (DIRECT), aimed at first-year engineering students. The adaptation was carried out based on an original English version, which was translated, reviewed, and evaluated by experts and students through various activities. The process ensured the instrument’s content and construct validity, as well as its contextual relevance going beyond a mere translation. Qualitative methodologies such as think aloud, along with expert analysis, were employed to identify interpretation difficulties, ambiguities, and issues derived from technical language. The pilot test allowed the identification of items with low discrimination indices and other elements that required adjustments or replacement with versions more suitable for the new context. It is concluded that test adaptation requires an iterative approach, sensitive to the educational and cultural environment of the National University of Colombia, taking into account both technical and human aspects, even leading to the removal or replacement of problematic items.eng
