The Strengthening the Reporting of Observational studies in Epidemiology). Los hallazgos contribuyen a la evidencia general que sugiere que la exposición al ruido de la actividad operacional aérea puede asociarse a diversas condiciones deletéreas para los individuos expuestos. dc.description.abstractIntroduction: Different associations have been established between communities living near airports and various disorders in the auditory, cardiovascular, and nervous systems; without mentioning the relationship with mental stress, sleep disorders, and the normal engagement in social relationships. The aim of this review is to synthesize the evidence and determine the effect of noise in terms of sensorineural hearing loss, arterial hypertension, quality of life and sleep, and sensation of annoyance, with the aircraft noise and operational aviation activity in the resident communities near the airports. Methods: A literature review was carried out in two stages, from February to December 2021, the literature selection was made in the PubMed, Science Direct, Medline, PsycInfo and Scopus search engines. Two different reviewers performed the selection and data extraction process, as well as the risk of bias analysis using the STROBE tool (The Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology). A quantitative calculation was made in terms of odds and its confidence interval for the results of 4 of 5 variables evaluated. Results and discussion: For the quantitative analysis, forty-seven studies were found that met the inclusion criteria. For sleep quality, 15 studies were found, with a general OR 1.06 (CI 1.05-1.07). 11 studies related to noise annoyance were found, with an overall OR finding of OR 1.13 (CI 1.12-1.14). 4 studies related to quality of life were selected, yielding an OR ratio of 1.26 (CI 1.15-1.39), and 17 studies related to arterial hypertension were included, with an overall odds ratio of OR 1.13 (CI 1.09-1.17). . The analyzes confirmed the statistically significant effect of each variable. The heterogeneity is mainly due to the different study contexts, the duration of the follow-up periods and the diversity of the variables evaluated. The findings contribute to the overall evidence suggesting that noise exposure from airborne operational activity may be associated with a variety of conditions eliminated for exposed individuals. Keywords: noise, aircraft, cardiovascular, sleep, annoyanceeng
