This thesis investigates the complex relationship between objective socioeconomic factors, subjective perceptions of financial well-being, and credit behavior in emerging economies, specifically focusing on Colombia and Mexico. The first part of the study analyzes how income, living arrangements, and demographic characteristics influence individuals’ self-assessed financial well-being. By employing supervised learning techniques, it develops a predictive model for Colombia that translates objective indicators into subjective financial perceptions. This model highlights critical points where policy or advisory interventions could improve outcomes. The second part examines the connection between financial well-being and credit behavior in Mexico, emphasizing the importance of credit scores as indicators of financial well-being. It differentiates between two dimensions: the present dimension, which includes financial security, debt management, and payment capacity, and the future dimension, which encompasses planning and resilience. By evaluating credit practices such as repayment timeliness and debt levels, the study demonstrates how financial behaviors impact both current and long-term well-being. Overall, the findings provide valuable methodological and practical insights for policymakers, institutions, and financial counselors.eng
