dc.description.abstract | This research proposes an optimization framework for humanitarian aid distribution in post-disaster scenarios, using the case of Salgar, Colombia, which was impacted by a sudden-onset flood. The objective was to develop a decision-support tool for selecting distribution center locations, transportation modes, and resource allocation, while considering constraints of efficiency and fairness. The model integrates penalties related to unmet demand, delivery delays, and equity deviations. Based on operational data and hypothetical scenarios, the study demonstrates that combining multiple transportation modes such as trucks, drones, and helicopters improves response capacity in areas with limited accessibility. Incorporating equity considerations also contributes to more just and inclusive aid distribution without severely compromising efficiency. | spa |
