Since its creation in 1890, educational programs in medical-surgical specialties have adopted the initial model proposed by Dr. William Stewart Halsted based on the philosophy of "See one, do one, teach one" as the cornerstone for the transmission of knowledge, skills and abilities of medical practice. Although the effectiveness of this method is well known, the evolution of clinical practice scenarios both in our country and worldwide have posed new challenges for the training of residents today. The present work seeks to make an adequate analysis of these challenges, and through a judicious review of the currently available literature on the subject, to propose a tangible proposal for the implementation of a completely synthetic simulation model for congenital diaphragmatic hernia, validable and with tools of objective evaluation that allow both the measurement and classification of user skills, as well as the comparison of their results with other equivalent simulation models worldwide. Finally, this manuscript is presented as a proposal for the implementation of this simulator in the context of a "Mastery Learning" for the curriculum of the specialty in Pediatric Surgery of the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. | eng |
