| dc.description.abstract | La estimulación con pulsos binaurales se ha propuesto como una estrategia no invasiva que puede modular la actividad cerebral vinculada al rendimiento cognitivo. En el caso de las personas mayores, su aplicación cobra especial importancia en un contexto de creciente digitalización, en el que la interacción con interfaces web demanda altos niveles de atención, rapidez y precisión en la ejecución de tareas. En este marco, la presente investigación analizó la influencia de la estimulación en frecuencia beta (18Hz) sobre el desempeño de adultos entre 50 y 70 años de Bogotá, durante la realización de tareas de usabilidad web. Se diseñó un estudio cruzado con medidas repetidas, en el que 16 participantes realizaron tareas de navegación en cuatro sesiones con y sin estimulación binaural, mientras se registraban métricas de atención visual, velocidad y eficiencia de uso, mediante el equipo Eye Tracking. Además, se evaluó la carga cognitiva percibida. Los resultados sugieren que la estimulación binaural beta favorece la eficiencia en la exploración de la información, mejora la velocidad de ejecución y promueve una mayor economía en los pasos requeridos para completar las tareas. Asimismo, se observó una disminución en la carga cognitiva reportada bajo la condición de estimulación binaural. No obstante, los efectos también estuvieron modulados por la práctica y la familiarización progresiva con las actividades. | dc.description.abstract | Binaural beat stimulation has been proposed as a non-invasive strategy that can modulate brain activity associated with cognitive performance. Among older adults, its application is particularly relevant in the context of increasing digitalization, where interaction with web interfaces requires high levels of attention, speed, and accuracy in task execution. Within this framework, the present study analyzed the influence of beta-frequency stimulation (18 Hz) on the performance of adults aged 50 to 70 in Bogotá during the completion of web usability tasks. A crossover study with repeated measures was designed, in which 16 participants performed navigation tasks in four sessions with and without binaural stimulation. Visual attention, speed, and efficiency metrics were recorded using Eye Tracking technology, and perceived cognitive load was also assessed. The results suggest that beta binaural stimulation enhances efficiency in information exploration, improves task execution speed, and promotes greater economy in the steps required to complete activities. Likewise, a decrease in perceived cognitive load was observed under the binaural stimulation condition. However, the effects were also modulated by practice and progressive familiarization with the tasks. The findings support the potential use of binaural beats as a complementary resource to optimize digital interaction in older adults. | eng |
