By changing the structure of design problems, it is possible to impact the quality in the exploration of design solution space. This research proposes ill structuring design problems as a tool to find solution opportunities in ideas that can be discarded unconsciously. This research shows design as a one of the creative industries and raises how designers can improve their efficiency in design processes, by increasing the number of ideas they propose. To carry out this research, we work with a design agency in the city of Bogotá that has a population with different levels of professional experience, ages and abilities in the design process. To explain the ill structuring of design problems as an effective tool for improving the design process, this research offers characterization tools for the ideation processes carried out by designers, as well as tools to impact the structure of design problems by changing the level of uncertainty a designer faces during the development of his design exercise. This research through design contributes to the cognitive aspect of design by proposing methods to work in the ideation phase of design thinking.eng
