However, theoretical and empirical knowledge of how corporate environmental ethics and green innovation are related and how they influence organizational and environmental performance in manufacturing industries in Colombia is scarce and lacks further dissertation. Therefore, the main purpose of this doctoral thesis was to determine the influence of green rationality in Colombian medium and low-technology manufacturing industries. The research was developed under a "pure" mixed methodological approach of concurrent "QUANTITATIVE and QUALITATIVE" types. For the "QUALITATIVE" approach, two (2) comparative case studies were carried out among manufacturing organizations to gather information. The "QUANTITATIVE" approach applied structural equation modeling (SEM) to explore the relationships between the constructs under study, based on a survey of 236 business leaders from Colombia’s manufacturing industry. This doctoral thesis findings reveal that corporate environmental ethics has a direct and positive relationship with green innovation and that the latter, in turn, positively influences organizational and environmental performance. Nevertheless, organizations’ competitiveness may be affected by the speed of market adaptation since the financial requirements for operating may be high while the rates of return may be slow over time.eng
