De este tratamiento (variado en cantidad, frecuencia y duración por participante dada la alta rotación de pacientes en la UCI) se concluye que las intervenciones musicoterapéuticas favorecen la prevención del delirium en una unidad de cuidado intensivo y, en menor medida, la aparición de un desenlace como lo es la necesidad de ventilación mecánica invasiva. dc.description.abstractDelirium is one of the transient neuropsychiatric disorders that occur most frequently in intensive care units, associated with considerable underdiagnosis and linked to fatal and non-fatal outcomes that greatly alter the quality of life of those who experience it, both in-hospital and out-of-hospital; therefore, it is important to strengthen the non-pharmacological strategies that already exist to prevent delirium, putting music therapy resources at the service of the integrity of cognitive functions from the biomedical and multimodal approaches of music therapy. This study, therefore, deals with detailing the music therapy interventions that were applied to 7 participants in the NON-COVID ICU (in some cases, with subsequent transfer to hospitalization) of the HUN and its impact on the prevention of the onset of delirium, its impact over vital signs and the influence on the well-being of the participant, their relatives and the medical staff and on other clinical outcomes, using a mixed methodology. From this treatment (varied in quantity, frequency and duration per participant given the high turnover of patients in the ICU) it is concluded that music therapy interventions favor the prevention of delirium in an intensive care unit and, to a lesser extent, the appearance of a outcome such as the need for invasive mechanical ventilation.eng
