Decision-making regarding artificial nutrition in patients with dementia, particularly in the advanced stages of the disease, always raises ethical and medical challenges in their care. This study aims to gather the opinions and perceptions of patients with early-stage dementia on aspects such as perceived difficulties with feeding throughout the disease, artificial nutrition, and advance directives. Likewise, the opinions and perceptions of specialists in clinical neurology and geriatrics regarding the management of dysphagia, artificial nutrition, and advance directives in patients with dementia are explored. Through semi-structured interviews, data were collected, coded, and analyzed following the principles of grounded theory. This approach allowed for the development of general categories and subcategories that provide insight into the care of individuals with dementia.eng
