The present study aims to establish the prognostic factors associated with the development of in-hospital death in adult patients over 65 years of age with confirmed SARS-CoV2/COVID-19 infection at the National University Hospital of Colombia. Methods: This is an analytical observational study. Adult patients older than 65 years with a confirmed diagnosis of SARS-CoV2/COVID-19 infection was evaluated. The patients were stratified by state of frailty and functionality. Mortality will be reduced at 28 days and an unconditional logistic regression model will be created, adjusting for confounding factors. Statistical significance is set at p ≤ 0.05. Results: There were 170 patients, they were stratified into survivors and non-survivors. The percentage of men in the survivors and non-survivors was similar, without significant differences in the average age between both groups, in relation to the presence of symptoms. In the multivariate analysis, the following variables predicted the incidence of the 28-day mortality outcome: frailty, history of cancer, ARDS, acute kidney injury and SOFA. Conclusions: The 28-day mortality rate in adults older than 65 years with COVID 19 infection in this study was 38%. When adjusting for history of cancer, development of acute kidney injury, ARDS, SOFA score and PAFI at admission, frailty was associated with higher mortality in the study population. | eng |
