| dc.description.abstract | La marchitez vascular del banano, causada por Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense (FOC), representa una de las amenazas más importantes para la producción sostenible de musáceas a nivel mundial y a lo largo del tiempo se ha definido como una unidad taxonómica homogénea. Sin embargo, análisis recientes sugieren una diversidad críptica subestimada dentro de este grupo. En este trabajo, se propuso caracterizar morfológica, genética y funcionalmente varios aislamientos asociados a la Raza 1 de FOC, con el fin de esclarecer la polifilia y variabilidad patogénica de este grupo. Se evaluaron tres aislamientos de FOC R1 provenientes de banano (Musa spp.) en el Urabá antioqueño y un aislamiento proveniente de Gulupa (Passiflora edulis Sims) mediante un enfoque polifásico que incluyó caracterización morfológica, pruebas de patogenicidad e inferencias filogenéticas multilocus (tef1α, rpb1 y rpb2). Los resultados revelan la existencia de linajes filogenéticos distintos, con evidencia funcional de diferencias en virulencia y patrones de infección. El aislamiento Villa Ester mostró cercanía con F. phialophorum, mientras que los aislamientos Varonesa e Isla Bonita se agruparon con F. duoseptatum. El aislamiento F-F05 se posicionó como un linaje basal relacionado a F. tardichlamydosporum. Este estudio confirma que FOC R1 no es un grupo monofilético y destaca la necesidad de redefinir su taxonomía dadas las implicaciones para el mejoramiento genético del banano y la vigilancia fitosanitaria en América Latina. | dc.description.abstract | Banana vascular wilt, caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense (FOC), represents one of the most important threats to sustainable musaceae production worldwide and has long been defined as a homogeneous taxonomic unit. However, recent analyses suggest an underestimated critical diversity within this group. In this work, we aimed to morphologically, genetically, and functionally characterize several isolates associated with FOC Race 1, in order to clarify the polyphyly and pathogenic variability of this group. Three FOC R1 isolates from banana (Musa spp.) in Urabá, Antioquia, and one isolate from Gulupa (Passiflora edulis Sims) were evaluated using a polyphasic approach that included morphological characterization, pathogenicity tests, and multilocus phylogenetic inferences (tef1α, rpb1, and rpb2). The results reveal the existence of distinct phylogenetic lineages, with functional evidence of differences in virulence and infection patterns. The Villa Ester isolate was closely related to F. phialophorum, while the Varonesa and Isla Bonita isolates clustered with F. duoseptatum. Isolate F-F05 was positioned as a basal lineage related to F. tardiclamydosporum. This study confirms that FOC R1 is not a monophyletic group and highlights the need to redefine its taxonomy given the implications for banana genetic improvement and phytosanitary surveillance in Latin America. | eng |
