In the last decade, the framework of Nature's Contributions to People (NCP) has been emphasized, showing how humans and nature interact through natural and anthropogenic capitals for the sustained co-production of NCP, a process mediated by the subjective and cultural perceptions of those who benefit from them. This master's research constitutes a case study, analyzing the perceptions of various key actors from the Cuervos Integrated Management Regional District (DRMI), a protected area dominated by forests and agricultural lands, regarding the influence of different types of capital—natural and anthropogenic—on the co-production of NCP. Using a participatory approach within a qualitative methodology, key actors are involved through workshops, surveys, and semi-structured interviews to analyze the relationship of capitals in the co-production of NCP. The results show that, for the actors involved in the study, NCP rarely arise solely from nature; they generally emerge from the interaction between natural and anthropogenic capital, affecting people both positively and negatively. The relationships between the actors and their influence on the different forms of capital are fundamental to maintaining, creating, or producing these contributions. Understanding the benefits that nature currently provides to people in this protected area, and the capitals that actors perceive as necessary for their co-production, is essential for developing future strategies for sustainable natural resource management, rural development, and the overall health of the protected area. Furthermore, by identifying key actors and their influence on NCP, the coordination and cooperation between public, private, and community sectors can be improved. This cooperation is essential for effective decision-making and capital management, thus generating positive impacts on NCP and improving the quality of life for communities within the protected area.eng
