Contributions to an orchid flora of colombia

Abstract

During the past several years the writer has been amassing materials for a proyected illustrated monographic treatment of the 0rchidaceae of Colombia. At an early date it became evident that the materials involved were insufficient for critical revisions of the vast majority of the complex genera involved. A large number of the typical specimens of Schlechters myriad Colombian taxa were destroyed during the Second World War, and since they were in the main unicates, must in many cases -until further materials are available-· remain relatively incompletely known.
