To describe the nursing interventions in the discharge planning for the adult in the emergency department. Methods: A scoping review was carried out according to the framework adopted by the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) for conducting that kind of reviews. Results: Forty-nine publications were collected to determine the nursing interventions in the discharge planning for the adult in the emergency department. The characterization showed that the topic has been constantly investigated in the last ten years, with a predominance of the literature in English language. From the content analysis, three categories emerged: Nursing prepares the user in the institution; Nursing accompanies the user outside the institution; and Nursing projects and proposes for discharge planning. Conclusions: Nursing interventions in the discharge planning involve the delivery of information and verification of comprehension in the institution; the follow-up of care and intervention of emerging needs outside the institution; and the projections and proposals to improve the discharge plan for the institution.eng
