Conocimiento y bienestar financiero: evidencia a partir de un estudio de caso en la zona rural de Tolima – Colombia

| dc.description.abstract | Este documento estudia el impacto de la educación financiera, medida a través de tres componentes: Comportamientos, Conocimientos y actitudes, sobre el bienestar financiero, empleando información de 404 habitantes de los municipios rurales de Ataco, Planadas y Rioblanco, ubicados en el sur del Tolima, con datos recolectados en 2016 en una iniciativa de la Agencia de los Estados Unidos para el Desarrollo Internacional (USAID) y el Banco de la República, en unión con la Universidad de Ibagué. Empleando OLS se concluye que la educación financiera tiene impactos positivos y significativos sobre el bienestar financiero, en especial en los componentes relacionados con los conocimientos y comportamientos financieros, estos resultados permanecen constantes al emplear estimación por variable instrumental. Así mismo, hay evidencia estadística para señalar que, si se busca que estrategias encaminadas a mejorar la cobertura bancaria generen impactos positivos sobre el bienestar financiero, estas deben estar acompañadas de políticas orientas a la mejora de la educación financiera, así como de una mejor comunicación y entendimiento entre entidades bancarias y usuarios. | spa |
