Art, architecture and vanguard in the first peronism

Abstract

This work addresses the links between the artists of theConcrete Avant-garde led by Tomás Maldonado and agroup of students of architecture of the Buenos AiresUniversity. From 1948 the group of artists and architectsconstituted a front for struggle for modern architectureand aesthetic and cultural renewal, and undertakes anumber of highly innovative and corrosive initiativeswhere merge art, architecture and design. In this context,are analyzed the fluctuating relations that the group engagedwith peronism, intending to complexify the mostwidespread historical vision on this period

El trabajo trata los vínculos entre la vanguardia concretaliderada por Tomás Maldonado y un grupo de estudiantesde arquitectura de la UBA. A partir de 1948 el grupo de artistasy arquitectos se constituye como un frente de luchapor la arquitectura moderna y la renovación cultural, yemprende una serie de iniciativas sumamente novedosasen las que se fusionan arte, arquitectura y diseño. Eneste contexto, se analizan las fluctuantes relaciones delgrupo con el peronismo, con la intención de complejizarel relato histórico más extendido sobre este periodo.
