This work presents the development of a proposal for the design of the business model of a Spin Off organization that has as its parent organization a research group associated with the department of electrical and electronic engineering of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. For the development of the methodology, first, clarity is given about the concept of the business model and how it has been studied from different approaches. Likewise, the concept of academic Spin Off is presented, identifying its main characteristics. Additionally, it is investigated how the National University of Colombia has addressed the issue. Subsequently, the methodological design used is presented, which consists of three sources of information. A review of the literature that aims to identify the existing methodologies for the design of the business model, a questionnaire addressed to the directors of the research groups of the electrical and electronic engineering department and an interview that was carried out with the managers of the Spin Off organizations. Based on the information collected, a methodology proposal is proposed for the design of the business model, presenting each of its phases and the processes that make up each phase. Once the methodology proposal is presented, it is put to the test by formulating the business model for the knowledge of a research group of the department. Finally, the conclusions and recommendations obtained during the development of the project are presented.eng
