The present work is part of the contemporary discussion on the spontaneous emergence of social norms. As the spontaneous emergence of social norms, we understand how people detect and follow social norms in everyday life. In this field, social psychology and game theory have marked a clear epistemic leadership in recent decades, showing how people's behavior is influenced by others. However, despite the fact that a broad consensus has been consolidated on the influence that social norms have on behavior, there is still a need to understand the interpretative resources that participate in the experience of the subjects when they read that situation in which they detect and they follow a norm. At this point, the inquiry about the practical emergence of norms is still open, allowing us to clarify what social norms concretely are; beyond the widespread recognition of its influence from the various disciplinary perspectives. Here, we show that a cultural theoretical framework can provide the necessary elements to understand the dynamics of interpretation and construction of meaning that people use when detecting and following a norm. Thus, we review the results of psychology and game theory, from the theoretical framework of cultural sociology. Through the interdisciplinary dialogue proposed throughout the four chapters, we show that the emergence of social norms is inevitably related to collective representations that subjects have of their observers. From our results we will show how collective representations inevitably mediate the emergence of norms.eng
