Paz en 280 caracteres: cámaras de eco y polarización sobre el acuerdo de paz en Twitter

Abstract

Durante 2018 y 2019 Twitter fue un escenario de disputa simbólica y discursiva sobre la implementación del acuerdo de paz colombiano de 2016 firmado con las FARC. Esta investigación analizó cómo diversos tipos de usuario se posicionaron respecto a la paz y su implementación, empleando métodos cuantitativos y análisis crítico del discurso. Más de tres millones de tweets fueron descargados, sistematizados y clasificados de acuerdo con su postura respecto al acuerdo (pro-paz, neutral, anti-paz). De esta forma, se identificaron más de 300.000 usuarios que interactuaron entre sí a través de retweets (RTs). Esas interacciones fueron operacionalizadas para clasificar a los usuarios, tanto a los autores de los tweets como quienes los replicaron, permitiendo identificar patrones y dinámicas particulares en la forma en que los mensajes circularon en la red social. Este análisis de redes permitió identificar la existencia de cámaras de eco en las que prevalecieron mensajes y usuarios clasificados como anti-paz. Sin embargo, también se encontraron interacciones entre usuarios con posturas diversas, aunque en una proporción significativamente menor. Paralelamente, se seleccionaron 500 mensajes para el análisis discursivo, así se pudieron diferenciar estrategias retóricas, marcos ideológicos y el uso de emociones por diversos tipos de actores: instituciones, medios, políticos, periodistas, etc. En conjunto, estos hallazgos señalan que Twitter no fue un espacio neutral para la deliberación y el debate, sino que se trató de un campo de luchas discursivas donde se disputó el sentido de la paz, los marcos desde los que se representa, y los actores leídos como legítimos para hablar sobre paz. During 2018 and 2019, Twitter became a space for symbolic and discursive struggles over the implementation of the 2016 Colombian peace agreement with the FARC. This research analysed how different types of users positioned themselves regarding this peace and its implementation, employing quantitative methods as well as critical discourse analysis. More than three million tweets were collected, organized, and classified based on their stance toward the agreement (pro-peace, neutral, anti-peace). This process identified over 300,000 users who interacted through retweets (RTs). These interactions were operationalized to classify users, both the authors of the tweets and those who reposted them, allowing the identification of specific patterns and dynamics in the way messages circulated on the social network. This led to the identification of the existence of echo chambers in which anti-peace users and messages dominated. However, interactions between users with diverse positions were also found, albeit in much smaller proportions. In parallel, 500 tweets were selected for the discursive analysis, making it possible to identify rhetorical strategies, ideological frameworks, and the use of emotions by various types of actors: institutions, media, politicians, journalists, etc. Taken together, these findings indicate that Twitter was not a neutral space for deliberation or debate, but rather a field of discursive struggle over the meaning of peace, the frameworks through which it is represented, and the legitimacy of actors claiming the right to speak on the matter.
