However, moral judgments of this practice have not received an adequate description yet. For this reason, the main objective of this research is to describe the moral judgments of euthanasia from the preference of the values of life and of autonomy. Two main research hypotheses were formulated from a theoretical review of some philosophical and psychological perspectives on morality, as well as from an empirical review of the studies about euthanasia. The first hypothesis establishes that the preference for the value of life is associated to the moral condemnation of euthanasia, whereas the second hypothesis establishes that the preference for the value of autonomy is associated to the moral approval of euthanasia. A descriptive-correlational design was used to contrast these hypotheses. The sample was formed by 382 university students. Moral judgments of euthanasia and the preference for life and for autonomy were measured with an instrument composed of three statements on euthanasia and ten affirmations on the preference for the value of life and of autonomy. Data were analyzed with logistic regression models. The results provide evidence in favor of the principal research hypotheses and suggest that values are relevant in the study of the moral judgment of euthanasia. (Texto tomado de la fuente)eng
