Adicionalmente, los resultados permiten sugerir que para establecer asociaciones en una tarea de tipo sexual es necesario que los sujetos tengan un desarrollo sexual completo. dc.description.abstractThe present study assessed how early social exposure influences the development of subsequent sexual behavior and whether this exposure, in turn, has implications for learning in a sexual conditioning task. Ninety-seven male quails of 20, 30, and 40 days post hatching (DPH) were assigned to various exposure groups (physical, visual, and no exposure) with the aim of assessing the influence of early experiences on the development of sexual behavior. The results showed that a high degree of exposure to females led to a delay in the development of sexual behavior in the younger subjects (20 DPH). On the contrary, subjects aged 30 and 40 days exhibited an improvement in sexual behavior performance under the same conditions, compared to males with lower exposure. Subsequently, all subjects underwent a learning procedure in which a conditioned stimulus was presented, followed by copulatory access to females. Regardless of age, subjects showed sexual behaviors in response to the unconditioned stimulus. However, only the 40-day group displayed clear evidence of learning, consistently presenting sexual behavioral responses to the conditioned stimulus. These findings suggest that early experience with adult conspecifics of the opposite sex influences sexual behavior differentially, depending on the subject's age and the intensity of such exposure. Additionally, the results suggest that to establish associations in a sexual-type task, subjects need to have complete sexual development.eng
