dc.description.abstractA pesar de la importancia de los páramos, se ha estudiado poco la biología y ecología de sus semillas, y no se han desarrollado lo suficiente temas como el destino de las semillas desde el punto de vista ecológico y de sus estrategias eco- fisiológicas para persistir en ambientes con altos niveles de estrés. El propósito principal de este libro es aportar conocimientos teóricos y prácticos sobre la ecología y fisiología de semillas de plantas de páramo y su potencial aplicación en proyectos de restauración ecológica y conservación de plantas nativas con algún grado de amenaza en su conservación, por lo que puede considerarse como una guía para la selección de rasgos de historia de vida relacionados con las semillas y una herramienta para la investigación sobre su fisiología.
