dc.description.abstract | Las terneras de reemplazo son el pilar fundamental dentro de la ganadería lechera, ya que de ellas va a depender la productividad futura del hato. El inadecuado manejo nutricional en la fase de cría, trae como consecuencia un deficiente desarrollo ruminal, alta morbimortalidad y aumento de los costos de producción, por ende, la alimentación de las terneras es clave para el desarrollo fisiológico óptimo, para lo que se requieren suplementos con alto contenido nutricional; sin embargo, el elevado costo de las materias primas para su elaboración incrementa los costos de cría, por ello se hace necesario evaluar alternativas en la alimentación en esta fase de crecimiento. El objetivo del presente estudio fue evaluar la eficiencia productiva y económica de diferentes opciones de alimentación para optimizar el desarrollo ruminal y la ganancia de peso diario en terneras Gyrolando F1. El estudio fue realizado en el corregimiento de Santa Rosa de Tapias, municipio de Guacarí, Valle del Cauca. Se estudiaron 19 terneras Gyrolando F1 con edades entre 14 y 22 días, distribuidas en tres tratamientos: el tratamiento 1 (T1) (grupo control), consistió en el suministro de 4L de leche al día dividido en dos porciones y concentrado comercial; el segundo tratamiento (T2) recibió 4L de leche distribuidos en tres tomas más consumo de alimento experimental y, al tratamiento 3 (T3) se le proporcionó 4L de leche distribuidos en tres tomas, más consumo de alimento comercial. Todos los tratamientos dispusieron de heno de Pangola y agua a voluntad. Durante el estudio se realizaron pruebas serológicas de metabolitos como proteína, albúmina, globulinas, calcio, betahidroxibutirato (BHB) y cortisol. Se determinaron parámetros biométricos como: edad, peso, circunferencia, altura, ganancia de peso, consumo promedio y conversión alimenticia (CA). Cada variable se analizó estadísticamente a través de un modelo mixto de medidas repetidas. Los resultados mostraron que no hubo diferencia significativa entre tratamientos (p<0,05), pero si entre los muestreos para los metabolitos de proteína, BHB y cortisol. El BHB como indicador indirecto de desarrollo ruminal, no mostró diferencias estadísticas entre tratamientos. Se concluye que la edad de los animales influye en la concentración de proteínas en la sangre. La concentración de cortisol no evidenció situaciones asociadas a estrés crónico en los animales. Las medidas Bovinométricas determinadas ofrecen un parámetro de comparación para crecimiento bovino. Los costos asociados al componente nutricional mostraron ser elevados. dc.description.abstract | Replacement calves are the fundamental pillar of dairy cattle raising, since the future productivity of the herd will depend on them. Inadequate nutritional management in the rearing phase results in poor rumen development, high morbidity-mortality and increased production costs, therefore, calf feeding is key for optimal physiological development, for which supplements with high nutritional content are required; however, the high cost of raw materials for their preparation increases the costs of rearing, so it is necessary to evaluate alternatives in feeding in this growth phase. The objective of this study was to evaluate the productive and economic efficiency of different feeding options to optimize ruminal development and daily weight gain in Gyrolando F1 heifers. The study was carried out in Santa Rosa de Tapias, municipality of Guacarí, Valle del Cauca. Nineteen Gyrolando F1 calves aged between 14 and 22 days were studied, distributed in three treatments: treatment 1 (T1) (control group), consisted of 4L of milk per day divided in two portions and commercial concentrate; the second treatment (T2) received 4L of milk distributed in three intakes plus consumption of experimental feed, and treatment 3 (T3) received 4L of milk distributed in three intakes plus consumption of commercial feed. All treatments were provided with Pangola hay and water ad libitum. During the study, serological tests for metabolites such as protein, albumin, globulins, calcium, beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHB) and cortisol were performed. Biometric parameters such as age, weight, circumference, height, weight gain, average feed intake and feed conversion (FC) were determined. Each variable was statistically analyzed using a repeated measures mixed model. The results showed that there was no significant difference between treatments (p<0.05), but there was a significant difference between samples for protein metabolites, BHB and cortisol. BHB, as an indirect indicator of ruminal development, did not show statistical differences between treatments. It is concluded that the age of the animals influences the protein concentration in the blood. Cortisol concentration did not show situations associated with chronic stress in the animals.
