A bibliographical review is presented about palm and soybean oils epoxidation reaction. A kinetic model is proposed for in situ epoxidation reactions catalyzed by sulfuric acid, in this model are considered as different species the unsaturation coming from different fatty acids in the triacylglycerol molecules (Oleic, linoleic and linolenic), the kinetic constants were established based on previous works. This model allows describing the concentration profile of oxirane ring of palm and soybean oils mixtures. Subsequently, Palm and Soybean epoxidized oil were obtained under óptimal conditions in a 1L reactor, 3 different mixtures were prepared: 50-50%, 70-30% and 80-20% Palm and soybean epoxidized oils respectively, 3 different flexible formulations are done with each epoxidized oils mixtures as plasticizers. The amount of plasticizers used was 20,40 and 60 parts for each 100 parts of PVC suspension resin used. It was found that the plasticizers effect was not related to the epoxidized oil composition, but of the quantity used in the formulation. Nevertheless, migration behavior and stability of the formulation was related to the oxirane ring concentration. Finally, the 70-30% mixture of Palm and soybean epoxidized oil was obtained in a 40L reactor vessel, for this reaction volume a considerable high resistance to mass transfer process was found out affecting the oxirane ring concentration profile.eng
