Abstract: The present research is part of the field of study of parenting in Colombia. More specifically, it intends to contribute to the development of the field by approaching the relationship between parenting practices, adolescent self-efficacy, and adolescent coping. A deliberate sample of eight grade students from Santander and their parents was used. In order to measure the variables of the study, the following instruments were applied: The Self-Administration Parenting Practices Questionnaire – Parents Version (CPC-P) from Aguirre; the General Self-Efficacy Scale from Baessler y Schwarzer; and the Coping Response Inventory – Youth Form from Moos (CRI-Y Form). Structural Equation Modeling (EEM) was used for the data analysis. In regard to the results, it was found that parenting practices influence adolescent coping and adolescent selfefficacy; while adolescent self-efficacy influences coping in a strong significant way. No mediation from self-efficacy was found in the relationship between parenting practices and adolescent coping.
