Abstract. It‟s being well known the therapeutic approach of stoic philosophy, among other Hellenistic Philosophies. In that regard, scholars has discussed the therapeutic status of philosophic arguments. Nonetheless, this discussion miss the point about the place and function of many literary and stylistic tools in the healing of mind. Given that stoic therapy aim to correct false judgments about good and bad, and because that correction has to deal with propositional contents, it‟s possible to ask about the therapeutic uses of language. Seneca is a relevant case for this purpose: he never imparted his lessons by oral means, but used just the writing as a therapeutic tool. Starting from an examination of the concepts of passion, health and sickness of mind, this work will propose an analysis of the curative potential of some literary tools used by Seneca in his Moral Epistles to Lucilius.
