There is a gender gap in STEM areas worldwide, aggravating the lack of professionals in these fields, which, in the current context of the fourth industrial revolution, is unfavourable for organizations. In various studies that have been carried out to intervene in this problem, it has been determined that the factors that have the greatest impact are social and individual ones and due to their specific nature, their study must be in homogeneous study populations. To propose actions aimed at reducing the gender gap in STEM degrees at UNAL, it was necessary to know which factors influence it. Therefore, this research was designed, based on a qualitative approach, single-case-study research type, of holistic subtype, and carried out in three phases associated with the specific research objectives. Phase one was the identification of factors that influence the gender gap in STEM through a systematic literature review (SLR). Phase two contrasted factors that affect the gender gap in STEM identified in the SLR with the factors identified in the local UNAL context, through the systematic analysis of the data obtained in the case study by using semi-structured interviews, as a data collection tool. Phase three contrasted the previous results, as well as the presentation of recommendations for intervention in the problem. On one hand, through the SLR 183 factors influencing the gender gap in STEM were identified. On the other through the case study, 56 factors were identified at UNAL in Bogotá Campus. After contrasting and analysing the research results, eight recommendations were formulated, considering the possible impact their intervention could generate on the STEM gender gap at UNAL. These recommendations were raised under the approach of the UNAL´s Global Development Plan.eng
