| dc.description.abstract | The conservatism bias is understood as a mental process in which individuals cling to their previous points of view or forecasts, causing the incorporation of new information to be slow or null. This can lead decision-makers to lose perspective and/or generate erroneous estimates. This graduate work sought to evaluate the presence of the conservatism bias in a group of leaders in the biofuels sector in Colombia, responsible for making investment decisions within their organizations. The participating group consisted of 45 individuals who hold positions ranging from coordination to management and directorships and have an average of 15 years of experience. For the measurement of the conservatism bias, an instrument was constructed that incorporated the Ward Edwards experiment and Michael Pompian's diagnostic test, a series of demographic variables for the characterization of the individuals, Frederick's cognitive reflection test, and a series of questions associated with the anchoring bias, to evaluate possible relationships. The results of the study showed that most of the participants were susceptible to the bias; only the age of the participants was considered significant in establishing relationships. Finally, a series of bias mitigation measures were identified, highlighting education/training, scenario generation, and incentives. | eng |
