Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the impact before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, on the consumption trend for psychotropic drugs in Colombia, during the period 2017-2021. Methodology: it is an observational, descriptive longitudinal study, where from the units billed for psychotropic drugs from the year 2017-2021 as the period of interest, it is intended to analyze whether the COVID-19 pandemic produced a change in the trend of consumption of psychoactive drugs the which is carried out through an interrupted time series analysis with retrospective collection of information at the national level. Results The molecules that showed a significant impact against trend change, and intercept for interrupted time series were: Risperidone, Clobazam, Zopiclone, and Vortioxetine while the molecules that showed changes at specific points due to outliers were: Quetiapine, Trazodone, Diazepam and Imipramine. Conclusion The COVID-19 pandemic in Colombia led in general a decrease in trend of the consumption of psychotropic drugs during the first semester, with a gradual increase over time.
