dc.description.abstract | Introducción: El labio y paladar hendidos (LPH) constituyen la malformación craneofacial más frecuente. Parte integral del manejo incluye la participación de cirujanos entrenados en diferentes técnicas de corrección quirúrgica. Sin embargo, la formación durante la residencia está limitada por restricciones para la interacción con los pacientes, mayores responsabilidades administrativas y menores oportunidades de práctica clínica supervisada Objetivo: Diseñar y desarrollar un modelo de simulación 3D para el aprendizaje de una técnica de palatorrafia, de bajo costo, portátil, fácil manipulación, reproducible y fiable respecto a la representación de las estructuras anatómicas involucradas en esta patología Materiales y métodos: Se realizó una revisión de la literatura modelos de simulación 3D para la enseñanza del paladar hendido. Se diseñó un prototipo a partir de los conocimientos quirúrgicos y anatómicos del paladar en pacientes con LPH, así como los modelos documentados en la búsqueda bibliográfica. Se fabricó un modelo en seco con materiales como yeso, acrílico y silicona, recreando las principales estructuras anatómicas. Resultados: Tres cirujanos expertos en cirugía de paladar hendido hicieron la evaluación cualitativa las características del simulador en cuanto a la experiencia háptica y apariencia estética de los materiales utilizados para recrear las estructuras anatómicas. Conclusiones: El prototipo obtenido cuenta los detalles anatómicos necesarios para la ejecución y comprensión de una técnica de palatorrafia. Igualmente, es portátil, de fácil manipulación y reproducible, con materiales de bajo costo. dc.description.abstract | Background: Cleft lip and palate (CLP) is the most common craniofacial malformation. As a part of treatment includes the participation of trained surgeons in different surgical correction techniques. However, residency training is limited by restrictions on interaction with patients, increased administrative responsibilities, and fewer opportunities for supervised clinical practice. Objective: Design and develop a 3D simulation model for learning a palatorrhaphy technique, low cost, portable, easy to manipulate, reproducible and reliable regarding the representation of the anatomical structures involved in this pathology. Materials and methods: A review of the literature on 3D simulation models for teaching cleft palate was carried out. A prototype was designed based on the surgical and anatomical knowledge of the palate in patients with CLP, as well as the models documented in the literature review. A dry model was made with materials such as plaster, acrylic and silicone, recreating the main anatomical structures. Results: Three expert surgeons in cleft palate surgery made a qualitative evaluation of the simulator's characteristics in terms of the haptic experience and aesthetic appearance of the materials used to recreate the anatomical structures. Conclusions: The prototype has the anatomical details necessary for the execution and understanding of a palatorrhaphy technique. Likewise, it is portable, easy to handle and reproducible, with low-cost materials. Complementary studies are required to validate the prototype as a learning tool for residents specializing in plastic surgery. | eng |
