| dc.description.abstract | Este trabajo presenta la implementación del modelo KTH Innovation Readiness Level™ en la empresa de base tecnológica SafeLab, con el objetivo de diseñar estrategias que viabilicen la comercialización de su innovación. A través de un estudio de caso cualitativo, se evaluaron las seis dimensiones del modelo de madurez: tecnología, cliente, modelo de negocio, financiamiento, equipo y propiedad intelectual. Los resultados muestran que SafeLab ha alcanzado un alto nivel de madurez tecnológica (TRL 8) y validación con clientes (CRL 7), pero enfrenta brechas significativas en su modelo de negocio (BRL 5), equipo (TMRL 4) y propiedad intelectual (IPRL 2), lo que la ubica en una etapa crítica conocida como el “valle de la muerte”. A partir del diagnóstico, se propone una estrategia integral que incluye acciones comerciales, organizativas y legales para fortalecer la sostenibilidad del proyecto. El estudio demuestra también la utilidad del modelo Innovation Readiness Level - IRL como herramienta de planificación estratégica para Empresas de Base Tecnológica - EBT y resalta la importancia de un enfoque multidimensional para lograr la consolidación de innovaciones tecnológicas en el mercado. | dc.description.abstract | This research presents the implementation of the KTH Innovation Readiness Level™ model in the technology-based company SafeLab, with the objective of designing strategies to enable the commercialization of its innovation. Through a qualitative case study, six dimensions of the maturity model were evaluated: technology, customer, business model, funding, team, and intellectual property. The results show that SafeLab has achieved a high level of technological maturity (TRL 8) and customer validation (CRL 7), but faces significant gaps in its business model (BRL 5), team (TMRL 4), and intellectual property (IPRL 2), placing it in a critical stage known as the “valley of death.” Based on the diagnosis, a comprehensive strategy is proposed, including commercial, organizational, and legal actions to strengthen the project's sustainability. The study demonstrates the usefulness of the IRL model as a strategic planning tool for Technology-Based Enterprise - TBEs and highlights the importance of a multidimensional approach to successfully bring technological innovations to market. | eng |

| dc.description.methods | Para abordar la pregunta de investigación y cumplir con los objetivos planteados, se empleó un estudio cualitativo, utilizando como instrumento para el desarrollo del análisis un estudio de caso interpretativo, el cual permite analizar un fenómeno contemporáneo dentro de su contexto real. Yin (2014) define el estudio de caso como una estrategia de “investigación empírica que analiza un fenómeno contemporáneo dentro de su contexto real, en la que los límites entre el fenómeno y el contexto no son claramente visibles” lo que requiere el uso de múltiples fuentes de evidencia (Yin, 2014). Este tipo de estudio resulta adecuado cuando se busca comprender procesos complejos y dinámicos, sin reducir la realidad a variables aisladas, lo que permite abordar la implementación del modelo y comprender cómo las características específicas de las empresas de base tecnológica influyen en su madurez. El estudio se centró en explorar las particularidades internas de la empresa seleccionada y cómo éstas impactan en su capacidad para comercializar innovaciones. | |
