Resumen
A partir de una revisión bibliográfica, el propósito de este artículo es documentar la posible relación entre cultura organizacional y desempeño, para ello se analizaron artículos científicos que relacionan los dos conceptos y que se encuentren publicados en bases de datos desde 1983 hasta el 2012. Esta revisión se estructuró y desarrolló en tres partes. La primera parte destaca dos grandes enfoques metodológicos utilizados en el abordaje de cultura organizacional. De estos enfoques se destacan las definiciones conceptuales, autores y modelos de mayor representatividad en el mundo académico y que han incidido en cómo es analizada la cultura organizacional y el desempeño en las últimas décadas, la segunda parte resume las diferentes escalas utilizadas para analizar la incidencia entre ambos conceptos, se presenta de manera resumida un inventario de escalas, dimensiones y variables utilizadas para identificar la relación entre cultura organizacional y desempeño, por último se analiza a partir de las conclusiones de los artículos científicos, la relación entre cultura organizacional y desempeño. Los hallazgos ponen de manifiesto la falta de consenso en la definición y determinación de las dimensiones constitutivas de los conceptos, sin embargo destaca que en la mayoría de los estudios demuestra la incidencia que ejerce la cultura organizacional en el desempeño.
Abstract. Purpose of this article is based on a literature review, document the potential impact or relationship between organizational culture and performance, analyzing scientific articles published in databases from 1983 through 2012. Research was structured and developed in three parts. The first part highlights two major methodological approaches used in addressing organizational culture. In First part is highlights the conceptual definitions, authors and more representative models in academia world that have influenced in how is analyzed organizational culture and performance in recent decades. Second part summarizes the different scales used to analyze the incidence among two concepts. is presented in summary inventory scales, dimensions and variables used to identify the relationship between organizational culture and performance, Finally is analyzing the relationship between organizational culture and performance based on conclusions from the scientific papers. Findings highlight the lack of consensus on the definition and determination of the constitutive dimensions of the concepts; however, in most studies is demonstrating the influence of the organizational culture on performance.
